Home / No Contract

No-contract home security

Month-to-month monitoring, no multi-year term, and what you give up to get it.

Straight answer

Yes, you can get monitored security without a three-year term

Month-to-month monitoring exists and it is a legitimate option. The trade is simple: you pay for the equipment upfront instead of having it subsidised across a long contract, and you usually install it yourself. In exchange, you can cancel any month without owing a cancellation balance.

Equipment, upfront
$200 – $400

Paid in full at purchase. Nothing is financed, so nothing is owed if you stop.

Monthly monitoring
$20 – $30/mo

Professional monitoring billed month to month. Cancel, pause while travelling, and restart later.

Cancellation fee
$0

No remaining-term balance and no equipment balance, because there is no term and nothing financed.

Installation
Self-install

Adhesive sensors and a plug-in panel. An hour or two, no drilling, no landlord approval needed.

Contract figures are provider-published starting prices for entry-tier configurations on a 36-month basis, last verified 2 October 2026 — see the full pricing breakdown. Month-to-month figures are typical market ranges for self-installed, professionally monitored systems, not any one provider's pricing. Neither column is a quote.

Who it suits

Month-to-month is the right call if…

  • You rent. No drilling, nothing permanent, no landlord permission needed, and the system leaves with you.
  • You may move inside three years. A long agreement follows you to the new address and charges you for the privilege.
  • You are military or relocate for work. Orders rarely line up with a 60-month financing term.
  • You want to try monitoring first. Pay for one month, see whether you use it, decide after.
  • The property is seasonal. Monitor a lake house or rental in season, pause it out of season.

A contract is probably better if…

  • You own the home and intend to stay — the subsidised equipment is genuinely cheaper per month over a long period.
  • You want cameras, smart locks, glass-break and environmental sensors on one professionally configured system.
  • The property is large or unusual and sensor placement is not obvious.
  • You would rather one company be accountable for installation, faults and response.
  • You want somebody else to climb the ladder.

Read the words, not the headline. “No contract” in an advertisement sometimes means no monitoring contract while the equipment is financed over 36 or 60 months — which is still a balance you owe if you stop. Before signing anything, ask the one question that matters: “If I cancel next month, what exactly do I owe?” A real no-contract plan answers that with nothing.
